This is my coming out poem…
I am a transgender female. I was born in a man’s body but knew from an early age that this was not right.
Because of the strict religious family I was brought up in I kept this very much submerged. But "truth will out", as they say, and I came to the point where I needed to live for me, not for society, and so Sarah was born.

Freedom is a purple dress,
Freedom is being what I was born to be,
Freedom is not pretending,
To soar and fly
On currents generated
By loves fire.
Freedom as well
Is knowing that the divine
We are what the universe
In all her glory
Had in mind,
Sarah Courtney Dean: I am a poet and my poetry is part and parcel of my spiritual tradition. I am a Druid and a seer and also a member of the Order of Bards, Ovates, and Druids. I live in the UK in the beautiful county of Dorset. My poetry is inspired by nature in all its forms especially by the progress of the seasons and how the Goddess is seen in them. I am single by choice and live with a ginger and white cat by the name of Rowan who as all cats are prone to rules the roost. You can find me on facebook here and on my page here.
