My life has been in
upheaval…
I have been sleeping at friends for a
week. I move in 4 days. My dreams grow as I let go of a life I have known to
build anew again. God knows this is not the first time and maybe not the last.
This
poem is simple. And rings true for me today: I only want to love again, will
all my heart. And maybe it will be the first time as what I have learned is I
know little about love though much about broken hearts.

The Beauty of
Beginnings
The
seed drops.
Water
comes.
Sun
shines.
Roots
shoot down.
Green
grows up.
Life
is like that.
We
have to get roots into the ground,
To
send dreams toward light.
Roots
begin in the heart
And
dangle into spirit
So
love may blossom.
On
earth we need a home.
On
earth we need food.
On
earth we need light and warmth.
In
form we need touch.
In
spirit we need hope.
In
heart love feeds love.
Edith Lazenby: “I love to write. I began writing poetry in elementary school. Sometimes I write poetry daily, other times not. I adore Mary Oliver, her way of embracing the light while acknowledging the darkness. I teach yoga full time and find the practice has grounded me deeper in my body and heart and helped me move closer to what I call spirit. I also now edit for Elephant Journal and write for them as well. I live with my husband, who is my best friend, and 4 kitties. Life holds challenges yet with time I feel better able to live in the moment, moment by moment. All great teachers teach presence. I find each day is a lesson in being. The process of writing holds me and I find the craft teaches me something new each time. You may visit my blog here.
