This is the first poem from my poetry book Lotus Lyrics… My book, Lotus Lyrics , is based upon the teachings of Bhagavad-gita As It Is by A.C. Bhaktivedanta Swami. Bhagavad-gita means `Song of God' and was extracted from the Mahabharata, an ancient Sanskrit epic poem. It contains a discussion between Lord Krishna and His devotee and friend Arjuna on human nature and the purpose of life. Bhagavad-gita As It Is inspired and helped me immensely to cross all the obstacles I encountered in my challenging life. This poem is based upon five topics of the Bhagavad-gita scripture. I wrote this poem after major brain surgery when I was very dizzy and struggling with coordination between eyes and hands. One topic from this poem: “Time”, inspired me to write my poetry even though I was in a very critical situation, as I meditated on how the time that passes will never again return.
