This poem was written shorty after losing my grandmother, almost a year ago… To many, she was steadfast, opinionated, and outspoken, but I had the unique opportunity to live with her and to hear her stories and innermost thoughts for most of my childhood. I knew her as only a granddaughter could know her, and I feel so very blessed. My grandmother radiated beauty and wisdom, and always spoke of reincarnation and how in her next life, she hoped to come back as a cheetah so that she could run across the plains, simple and carefree, enjoying life as it was meant to be: letting go of pain and worry, and living blissfully. I carry a thousand memories of her, yet this one is most memorable, and it never fails to bring a smile to my face. I know she’s out there right now, running free, and this poem is in her honor.
