Journey of the Heart

I wanted to paint a piece that celebrates my relationship with my partner…  And bless a new phase we are entering.  I began with abstract layers and two Native Indian spirits began to emerge. As the painting progressed I knew it had to reflect a moment in time many years ago when I did wish upon a star. My poem ‘Two Hearts’ gives voice to that moment and the painting.  My heart aching
 Yearning
 For something it felt
 It could not have
 But, oh it so wanted
 A dream too grande 
For my heart to believe
 Could possibly come true 
A dream too grande
 I couldn’t even allow it to exist
 To be real 
To give it a space in my heart
 For it to grow 
Nay
 I couldn’t let it breathe
 For fear of disappointment 
And the crushing weight of feeling
 Undeserving of happiness 
But, in a moment of weakness
