HER TYPE OF MAN by Ilda Dashi

These are lines that I'd rather keep to myself but I'm beginning to share them... Because, after all, though we are all born female, to become true goddesses in our own right, requires a long journey, and part of that journey is sharing.  This poem is about the role that men (or spiritual partners) can play in helping us release our inner  goddesses.  In my own life, I have found that a  man of integrity and values can bring out the best in me, and can also bring forth the woman that is hidden beneath a  thousand  layers of insecurities, fear and shame or shyness in me.  For me to become the goddess that dwells within me, I feel that I also need to get in touch with the part of me that  seeks true, deep, spiritual  companionship  with  a man. I  believe  that in finally allowing a worthy man to love me, my own inner goddess will emerge through such vulnerability without fear or insecurity ...for this is one of the po...

LOVE IS LIKE A BREEZE by Ilda Dashi

People will love us, and their love will challenge us... People will disappoint us and we will become bitter towards them. People will fail loving us and we will also fail to forgive them. We will love and our love will be distorted. Then, we will love again, and moving through love we will meet many obstacles that may ruin all we ever built.  Love will love us but it will also shake us off. Love will pierce our hearts as if an arrow, for when it creates pain within us, it transforms us. There are people in our lives who seem to know well how to push our buttons. We try to avoid them or change them. Why would we do that? Because we are so scared to look at those invisible wounds that dwell in our psyche. Wounds we have locked decades ago inside the inner basement of our hearts.  Don’t remove yourself from pain when your wounds are being pressed upon. Be grateful instead that now you are becoming more aware of them, so the process of healing can start in you. Tru...

I SEE HER by Ilda Dashi

Women have always suffered in the battle to embrace and enjoy to the fullest the sensual and sexual parts of who they are… I feel that we have always been condemned since the beginning of time for our birthright to connect with and express our sexuality, and the many benefits of experiencing pleasure. Times have changed, yet in many cultures and societies it is still shameful for women to fully acknowledge and accept with joy and gratitude their ability to give themselves pleasure, and to experience pleasure with the partner of one’s heart.  Not accepting this part of ourselves, we repress it instead, and through repression it becomes a wound, whose origin is often found in our childhood years. Unfortunately, some of us are taught that playing with our sexual organs is bad and dirty. Usually, we are shamed in such ways by our own parents. But blaming them won’t take us far in life. Perhaps they learned the same attitudes from their own parents, and so on and so ...

HOME by Ilda Dashi

Home is not a place; it is a state of being... We all have a longing inside, a strong desire to arrive at some ‘home’ that feels peaceful, loving and protective. We all need and want a connection like this, which is more like a spiritual connection with the source of all beings. The source is that which has created all: we humans included.  It may feel like the most humbling experience when we receive glimpses of this kind of connection, and we try to hold on. Yet we cannot hold on. This state of being can only come naturally if we are receptive to it; if we trust it enough, knowing that it is the source of our heartbeats and the source of the very blood circulating through our veins, and providing us with this body as the vessel we need to navigate our ways through this world. Is this not something to be humbly grateful about?  Surely at times we forget, but eventually we will turn to this source of our beings. It is always there proving our the shelter we need, the pro...

YOU UNBUTTON ME by Ilda Dashi

We have all certain people in our lives that at first seem to challenge us... But what they are doing actually is helping us dig deep inside of our minds and hearts, bringing awareness to our inner world, which is in turn reflected outside through our behavior and actions. These are what we can call our greatest life teachers. They teach us where to look inside, how to be exposed and how not to hide between false faces and masks.  These valuable teachers could appear in our lives as a lover, a friend, a parent, a sibling and so on. They could be anyone! What's more important is to accept what they bring upon our paths so we can grow and mature. This poem is dedicated to a male friend of mine with whom I have a very beautiful relationship: one that has no label. You Unbutton Me  by Ilda Dashi I could have never imagined, that someone like you, would one day read me naked between my unwritten lines, and then take me to those places inside me, where i’m the ...

WHY DO YOU RUN FROM ME? by Ilda Dashi

We all wish or attempt to escape life sometimes... We don’t want to be seen, or rather, to see our flaws reflected in others in our interactions with each other. We want to hide what we identify in ourselves as ‘’not good enough’’ or not “perfect”, or imperfect for that matter. We all have a little child we once were. How was she? Shy? N ot seen? Not considered as good enough? Ignored? Not loved? Not supported? Alone in minds of adults? We all have felt alone in one way or another: each and everyone of us. A happy childhood does not exist, only happy moments or memories. This is basically the main theme of this poem: How, even now as adults, we may still see that little child in us crying, weeping and hiding, because she still feels insecure in all kind of relationships. She wants to run away because she does not know that now she has become an adult who is going to take care of this small part of her yet alive. It is not an easy ‘job’ to be fully responsible for our l...
