Those Who Tend the Fire by Carolyn Chilton Casas

Those Who Tend the Fire                      ~ after a line by Birch Dwyer   Your falling apart magnificence , say the grandmothers who tend the fire just for me,  is what we most love  about you.   You were never meant to know it all, be it all, achieve it all, possess it all, you were only meant to be  the beautiful being that is you.   They are dressed in long skirts, as I have always pictured them, they surround me with a yearning for their child come home.   They tease me to not take life so seriously, insist that loss is  merely an illusion for my learning,   but they have also seen the joy I embody from each and every day.   She’s the one , they whisper, the one who holds our love in her heart and carries it forward into the future, the one who accepted our gifts. WOMAN'S WISDOM by Rhea Ruth Aitken

Woman's Wisdom                                                                                                     How does she nourish a hungry soul? When the pains are raw Biting at her, unbidden Making her want to scream  Loud and wild Desperate and wanting. How does she feed an empty space? When all is elusively floating Unobtainable and distant Out of her reach Yet are desired so deeply Flame red and burning Inside of her very core. How does she begin?  To become the woman That is impatiently waiting  Her pleading eyes, her piercing cries Hands reaching far, not yet touching To bring her to that knowing            ...

SILENT FLUTTERING by Rhea Ruth Aitken

As an empath there are days when all your senses are open so wide  and run so deep... On such days you can almost feel the running rivers of discontent claiming the serenity of those beautiful women you know and even those you never will. It is as though you can hear them on the wind, a chorus of feminine souls who are silently fluttering their now abandoned wings. You can feel them tentatively flexing, readying to find the courage to fly once more and feel with each precious flutter a reclaiming of wildness, authenticity and power, to find again their gypsy heart.   Silent Flutterings      Rhea-Ruth Aitken                                                              ...

I AM A WOMAN by Jacqueline Coote

People ask me what I write about and why… It's easy: Women are faced with difficult decisions every day and particularly those who are now alone, either by being empty-nested, widowed or divorced. I believe that we are in a time when a woman has to stand strong. Whether we are young or in our sixties, seventies or beyond, we women need to build our self-esteem and encourage one another to follow our passions. And this is why I write: To inspire and encourage women of all ages to do just that. I think we women deserve a break! We spend our entire life taking care of others. We always think of others—which is not a bad thing—but there comes a time in our lives when we have to make room for 'us'. So I ask all women reading this today: What types of things do you enjoy doing in your life, that you have been prevented from doing over the years or because the circumstances were not right? Well, your time to do them is now. This poem is from my latest book and d...
