SLOW DOWN, MIND by Vidya Chetan

Slow Down, Mind          by Vidya Chetan   We drift faraway from old ideals:  Have we lost our core values? This world runs behind wealth virtuous qualities seem obsolete.  Searching for  something , we tread unknown paths, sans concern for others.   With our gadgets, day & night: Connecting with far ones,  while snubbing those close by. Engrossed in this materialistic world we forget our own caretakers. Respecting elders—obeying them— has become a rare scene. Inconsideration and apathy empower us, our thoughts machine-driven, overindulgence in sense gratification slowing turning us into zombies and slaves.   We can’t live without our gadgets  but could manage without parents. Time spent with parents, siblings, friends: nothing but mere dreams now. We hurriedly meet and leave them.   Smart phones dumbing us down: having forgotten to play, read a book, chit chat with neighbors. Endlessly tied do...

DIVINE LOVE by Vidya Chetan

I was thinking about this month of February as a special month for many who celebrate love , and of the   freshness and brilliance this time of year brings to one's life. ❤️ But when I think of love, my thoughts always go towards the Divine: my Lord Krishna . I believe there is nothing more precious in this world than the divine love he bestows upon me. My mind and heart are filled with love for Him   more than anyone. I penned down this poem just to express my feelings towards him, for I believe that God’s love is incomparable, unrivaled, unique, exceptional and precious than anything in this world. Divine Love  Vidya Chetan O, my Lord Krishna!  I bow down to your lotus feet, which give me an immense sensation of tranquility, calming my soul deep within. Whatever outer turmoil or chaos I face evaporates before your smiling face  instantly releasing me from agony.  You lift me when I am depressed and grant me courage to face the world. ...

SOLITUDE by Vidya Chetan

I believe that w e can hear the sound of our soul only when we are alone and away from the world...  I penned down this poem on solitude while I was away from all the noise of this world for many days. I feel God hears us when we speak to ourselves during such times, and  retrospect  on specific times in our lives. Nowadays, however, we get so busy in amassing wealth and worldly possessions that our souls often feel abandoned and we feel stressed. Many are after wealth their whole lives and eventually tire  of  chasing it. Instead, I feel our purpose in life is not to enjoy worldly pleasures alone but to help others to live a positive life and to do things which help us, and others, connect more with our souls. At least f or me, devoting some time to being alone revitalizes and nourishes my soul, as well as my relationship  with  God.  Solitude by Vidya Chetan Discovering myself in my solitude In a self contemplative mode, Not in...

MOTHERS: GODDESSES IN DISGUISE by Vidya Chetan

Today I was thinking of some of the precious possessions I have in my life, my mother being on the very top of my list... Not only for me, but Mothers are most valued, next to God, for all the creations on this earth. Without my own mother, I cannot even imagine how I would have survived a single day! Her unconditional love and care is unparalleled with any other relation I have in my whole life, no matter which new relations I make. Therefore, I bow my head to my own mother and all mothers, who sacrifice much happiness only to see the smiling faces of their children. I wish that the kids who grow up to ignore their mothers realize their mothers' value and give their mothers due gratitude and importance by taking special care of them in their old age. For mothers have big hearts that only know how to love. At least, mine did.  Mothers: Goddesses in Disguise! by Vidya Chetan I can't remember much of my childhood, as I grow those days are forgotten, ...

DAWN by Vidya Chetan

I feel that dawn is the finest time to do anything… As such, I start my day at dawn with prayer, and reflections into my inner self, which really calm my mind and fill me with resilience with which to face the rest of the day. Quietness experienced at dawn cannot be conveyed in any way. I experince dawn as the most divine time. As the sun rises dazzlingly each day, I feel myself filled with the same vitality. Reflecting on such thoughts, I start my day with the name of God. The serenity and harmony I feel at dawn cannot be paralleled with any artificial, external luxuries. I feel that Nature looks upon dawn and dusk as the paramount time of the day. I’ve found that by meditating and contemplating on our thoughts at the start of each day enables us to forget our sorrows and strains. The tranquillity attained through this practice inspires me to dwell on my inner self and be more spiritually aware of my soul. Dawn by Vidya Chetan As day begins—divine moment of the en...

TREES: THE SOUL OF NATURE by Vidya Chetan

Nature always inspires me in my search for my inner self... My spirituality is closely linked with nature. I especially sense this when I take a stroll into nature, amid the giant trees. I feel the wind soothing my inner soul, in ways that rest beyond what words can elucidate. This poem is inspired by the beauty of nature: its greenery and colorfully vivid treasures. I get myself lost in its lush forests surrounded by trees and gushing rivers.  Trees: The Soul of Nature by Vidya Chetan Trees getting cut day by day, yet we busy extinguishing our soul, breaking the habitat of birds. Where will our birds abide as we hurt our Mother Nature? Blindfolded to the blood oozing, from the trunks of ancestral trees, ignoring the pain of deep routed stalks for our self-centred advances!! Wild creatures are being displaced, as we enlarge our castles. Weather is getting more and more intense, while we easily adapt wit...
