WOMEN'S TIPI TIME by Krista Katrovas

This poem surfaced after experiencing, "Tipi Time," recently with my sister community… When time is spent with only women, we heal, inspire, and empower one another. Without sister time, I don't think I would be able to breathe as easily. This poem grew out of my profound gratitude for women in my life, and all my sisters around the world.  Women’s Tipi Time We sat close to the fire, poking it, adding wood, watching the smoke rise before escaping through the funnel of the tipi. We formed a circle, sent whirls of dreams, heart visions, shared our heart wrenching life stories mostly that men had burnt into our lives, and placed them into the hands of our ancestors for them to carry. Those prayers are surely to find their way into the trees during this season of change among the rusty leaves that now break and fall then land on the animal hide floor. We, ladies, slept.
