THE THINGS by Ulli Stanway

The Things  by Ulli Stanway The things that make you not fit in. The things that make you the odd one out.  Hold magic and wisdom within.  You see, what they think is weird, too much and indifferent.  Really is a blazing woman, standing strong in her own power and beauty. Full-Hearted. Untamed. Unapologetic, It is She, who Roars.  And She is you.  Photography by Chanel Baran This poem first appeared in Ulli Stanway's debut poetry collection, SHE ROARS.  To obtain your own copy, click here.  Ulli Stanway : I am a poetess/writer/day dreamer, life lover and author of SHE ROARS. I live in Melbourne Australia with my beautiful husband. I love nature and I am a confessing tree hugger. I believe in becoming your authentic self, become ...

GO THERE by Sarah Carlson

Go There Don ’t go there -  worst advice ever. At least it was for me. In truth, it became vital to go into  that which was causing my dis-ease. You can wrap it up,  store it away,  deny its existence. But  there  IS there, will continue to be. It’s not easy to take the leap, plunge on in. It can’t really be done alone, so you’ll have to ask for help. You’ll need support and love,  but when the time is right, when you hear the call or feel the tug, go there . You’ll learn and grow, gather what is necessary, enabling you to take  what  there  has to teach and utilize it for good. Over time you will discover  slivers of understanding, shards of insight, specks of wisdom that, together, provide illumination and peace. There  has virtues all its own that will mingle and mesh with here and now revealing the beauty  of a familiar landscape anew. So...

FREE TO BE YOU by Camilla Downs

I feel as if the poems I write are  from  nature and shared through  my  heart and fingers… My poems are inspired by nature photographs made by me. I sit with a photograph, ask what I am to share, touch my fingers to the keyboard, close my eyes, and let the message flow.  It is as if nothing else exists when I'm in this flow. It is almost always aligned with something I am in the midst of personally, and will usually answer or clarify an issue for me. This poem was written the morning after I attended a local show by The Alchemist Theatre. The theme of the show was Providence. We all took white stones, were walked through a beautiful prayer/meditation at which time the name or image that appeared for us was our "name". We then wrote this name on the white stone. The message shared with me that night is that I am supposed to plant seeds of loving-kindness wherever I go and these poems are part of that. This served more as confirmation as ...

WILD WOMAN RISING by Clare Gately

The theme of empowerment for women is very important to me… As I reflect on the many women I know and have met in my life I find it staggering the amount who have low self esteem and little confidence. It's pandemic. This poem came from a place of asking myself what would an empowered women look and feel like? When we have that vision then we can aspire to it. This poem embodies the kind of woman I want to be and maybe come close to on a very good day! Oil on canvass "Her Journey" by Gaia Orion Wild Woman Rising by Clare Gately  She entered the room Everyone’s gaze was pulled to her like a magnet She had it That quality that is hard to define She has the recipe that every woman wants She inhabits her skin fully Warmth flows form her She is nourishment All are drawn to her like bees to a flower Wanting her nectar to feed them She wants nothing but could have it all She has no interest in being adored She has found the sp...

THE DISMANTLING by Sophie Gregoire

The end of the year is coming closer... 2016 has been an interesting ride,  and as November energies, Moons and stars adorn our sky, we can already feel a relief and the beginning of a new era in our lives. As 2016 reaches an end and we slowly enter the Year of Genesis, each of our destinies can make History. The dismantling has cleaned you out of the impure, sullied blood by Sophie Gregoire Underneath it all Tonight, There is, at last The excitment for Sacred purpose. We are found. That voice So deep, insistent and persevering It rises from the basement of your soul, That voice She couldn't leave you at peace, Years and months of wondering She shoke you to your core,  Tore you apart Dismantled your life Because she knew, You're of the Sacred Blood. You now stand White ground. Star-studded vaccum,  Gaping hole of light On this empty frame, You stand. Strong and wise, Seed of stars. It's the pas...

SHE LEAVES THE NAME BEHIND by Tammy T. Stone

This poem first came to me as an image... I saw a woman – you, her, me – beautiful and free, utterly unbound from the expectations, desires and projections of others, and even her/you/my own. What it would be like, away from all we’ve known? Or rather, imagine remaining where we are, where we have lived and struggled and loved and been loved, and transcending what we perceive to be our limitations through the power of our intuition. Imagine the ability to stay true to our very core, the gold I reference in the poem, finding peace with every new moment. May we all be free! She Leaves The Name Behind   by Tammy T. Stone On the other side of her name She moves through the field Past apples fallen from trees Leaves flecked with gold The name that weaves tales And holds secrets like gems That turns sacred memories Into petrified bitter stone She leaves the name behind On the wildly growing grass Her feet, now naked and free Treading on soft d...

FEAR OF TARGET by Alyscia Cunningham

Because of the dynamics of my family life from a very young age I became an advocate... It's not something I think about doing, its a natural reaction. When I was young advocacy wasn't a term I was aware. As I've grown I've come to realize that it is innate characteristic that I couldn't ignore even if I wanted to. As a black woman and mother, I bear the unfortunate truth of being in a space in which I must advocate for the fair treatment of my children. I have to consistently remind them of their worth and fight for their birthright to be treated just as equal as their white counterpart. As I fight for rights of my children along, with hundreds of other children of color, it's mind baffling when parents turn away as if the issue does not exist for fear that their children will be targeted at school. In my view, doing nothing not only enforces a negative self-perception but also puts your child in a space of being accepting of unjustly treatment. ...
