Journey of the Heart

This poem is a heart cry for authenticity... It is the urgency I came to, after experiencing some very painful issues this past year which led me to a place of feeling, no more.  I want to be myself and to fully be myself means that I will sometimes be met with love, and sometimes with disappointment.  It is the people-pleasing side of my nature that needs to be sacrificed on the altar of God’s unconditional love. Only God will give me the validation I need as a child of royalty and honor.   When we know our worth, we can be free to love and be loved in return. This poem is about coming into the realization of personal power; power that is shaped by love and creativity, that uplifts others and does brave things like forgiveness. I wrote this poem a day or two after my first Poem-a-Thon came to an end, with Tiferet Journal this year... The experience of being part of writing a poem a day for a month, responding to the sensitive calling forth of prompts each day and writing alongside other amazing people was a very spiritual journey of discovery for me.  I felt like I had spent every day birthing something and at the tail end of the Poem-a-Thon, I felt at a loss and wondered how to move forward. Then I wrote this poem.   I am entering a new phase of my life as a woman, just turned 40.  New experiences await and at the same time I am being invited into the experience of "now" like never before. I feel like God is showing me something of freedom - in a sense of freedom to be who I am. Freedom to be who I am with who God is. And that for me is very important at the moment, as I am letting go of what has been, to learn to "be" with what is.  D...
