FLICKERING by Ailsa Cawley

Flickering It’s small but it’s there That glimmer from the hidden Fire that burns deep in my Belly It tells me determinedly that I can do these things that I dream of and it’s not Idle dreaming, wishful nonsense Distracting me from Reality The nagging whisper that Refuses to be put out Despite naysayers and laughter Raised eyebrows that say Dreamer Smirks that say put it away The glimmer that refuses To be extinguished The magical light that Even as a tiny almost unseen Flicker It keeps on flickering Glimmering and will not Go out because the spark Is hidden away in my soul Untouchable. ©️AilsaCawleyPoetry2020 Ailsa Cawley :   I have written since I can remember, devouring the stories of Roald Dahl under the covers by torchlight. I have always loved fairy tales, myths and magic. A good deal of the things I write has some truth in it. Others, not. You may find my writings on my website  here , or follow  me on  Twitter  or  Facebook . *For submission guideli...

BIG DREAMS IN BLACK AND WHITE by Marulé MacKay

Big Dreams in Black and White Marulé MacKay She opens one of her writing journals. A present from a sunbeam friend. Pages sprinkled with colourful confetti stars. Discoveries of glitter surprises and smiles—all around. She starts to write these pages alive with love. The happiness of the bright, and the darkness of the night. On rainy days, sometimes sunny, she wonders if she has fallen into a pot of honey—too sticky to get out? these…   numb days     vibrant skies       sad minutes         angel eyes           dark circles             golden shores               lost souls                 beauty wars tired of grey tired of rhymes ...

SETTING WITH THE SUN by Amanda Almond

Some days are a real struggle... As a homeschooling mom to four small children, who has a husband that works extremely long hours, I barely make it through most days. Each sunrise meets a rooster crowing and little ones stirring…so early. It’s breakfast, school work, lunch, outside time, dinner, baths, bed. Throw in the time spent cooking meals, washing clothes and dishes, errands, financial planning, writing, reading…you get the idea.  This mommy, like all others, wears a lot of different hats. That being said, at the end of the day, when the sun is finally setting, and I realize that the end of the running, juggling, crazy hassle is reaching it's near, this mom can breathe a sigh of relief, crawl into the bed, and just let it all go. Tomorrow is another day… Setting with the Sun by Amanda Almond The sun is setting on yet another day And with it carrying my hassles far below the horizon Night is upon us What’s left undone must wait Dinner to repleni...

THE THINGS WHICH MATTER by Sophie Gregoire

On the path there are those things that we do because we have to... Or because we are good at them, or because we seek the love, validation or acceptance of others. On the opposite, there are those things we do because they matter. They matter because they are how we are, they matter because our joy matters. There are those things we do, or wish we could do: insights lost among an ocean of million possibilities, little gems in the sea of our lives -- and those things matter.  And it matters that we make them become our lives -- not just fleeting golden moments of alignment, happiness and truth in the memories of our hearts. Because, Ultimately... those are the ones we will remember.  The Things Which Matter by Sophie Gregoire   When all is said and done, All the chapters written. When the sun sets its last dance Away, The book closed. When the endless night comes, We'll remember The way we dealt with, The matters of the heart. How w...

POWER OF THE LITTLE THINGS by Terri Lambert

Sometimes we may question our worth... ...wondering if we will make a difference on our Earth; or what our gifts are, and how we may serve humanity. Sometimes this is readily apparent as we may have an obvious mission in life. Others of us may feel at a loss as to what our gift truly is. That is what I was pondering when I wrote the poem, Power Of The Little Things. We may never know the full impact of the smallest actions we take. Even if we only reach a handful of people in our lifetime, someone that we inspire may be destined to reach many with a positive affect. With deepest appreciation for all of the small ways that we do make a difference... Power Of The Little Things by Terri Lambert Glint in the eye that begins our story Single cell that divides in two First inhale that welcomes us in First step that begins the dance Spark that ignites the fire Seed that contains the potential of it's future generations Taste that whets the appetite Nod tha...

THE ETERNAL BEAUTY OF YOU by Dolly Mahtani

This rarely happens to me but last week, it did... I was walking down the street and I saw this woman... like really saw her. I just wanted to go up to her and tell her that I see her, try to put into words everything I felt for her in that moment. It was a kind of connection, a soul recognition. I saw the woman, the mother, the daughter, the lover, the employee, the home owner, the dreamer, the silent sufferer but I also saw the soul. The angel. The goddess. It was all there all at once and it was beautiful. If I could see her again, this is what I would’ve said to her: The Eternal Beauty of You by Dolly Mahanti Look at you. Wow. Just look at you.   You’ve made sadness an artist and gave your face away as a canvas and he has done a masterpiece with it.   The thing is you.. you’ve forgotten who you are and now you believe you are his work of art. But sweetheart, I am here to tell you that you are not. Take your pieces back. Reclaim ...

A RETURN by Kara D. Spain

My poem, “A Return” is about recent events  in my life, where I engaged in too much  h arsh  debate with others, and began to take it to heart... My intentions, though noble, caused me to lose sight of my life’s  purpose. Returning to my own inner voice and meditating on my poetry, reminded me of where I need to be. I need not listen to other voices in the world; I simply need to stay on the path that has been given to me and keep my ear pressed to the voice inside. A Return by  Kara D. Spain In the  stilln ess, I listened, leaned in with my invisible ear, pressed to your bosom of love; forgive me, I'd forgotten the sound of your voice. I'd been listening to other ones, their clanging noise, deafening me to your words. Yours is a small whisper- one of lingering intuition, and passion for truth and balance. I return to your secure arms, though you're not the same- new arms, of strength and verdure, guiding me, li...

The Seed of her Heart by Isabelle Andres

This came to me, a long while ago, almost in a burst, writing itself on a piece of paper, following its very own rhythm... It had a mind of its own, I am not too sure if it wanted to be a poem, a fairy tale or what. I let it be what it wanted to be and I saw the river from Paulo Coelho’s novel and the witch from Philip Pullman’s novels happily sneaking in. I let it do what it wanted to do and it decided to reveal itself today. I suspect it is now ready to share a message, a message that was entrusted to us by our yoga teacher a little while ago now: “We all have a seed of love within us, sometimes our journeys take us astray from it, sometimes we may let it dry, but it is in each and all of us, for us to connect or reconnect with, for us to find and cherish.”  The Seed of her Heart by Isabelle Andres Once upon a time,  There was a man, Whose cold heart, Would turn to ice, All that he found in his path, And like in most fairy tales, Our heroine ...
