TETHERED by Vrinda Aguilera

Ever since I can remember I have always felt things acutely... Being sensitive to life and it's  realities is a simultaneous curse and blessing, for there exists such a wide array of experiences:  from the deep, dark chasms and valleys of suffering, to the dizzyingly high mountain peak cliffs  of joy, the vast, wide open plateaus and stretches of everything else that fall in between! One such platform that these polarities encompass is the dichotomy of the fact of human  existence itself- to be an eternal, unfettered spiritual being yet contained in an embodied frame. T hese apparently contradicting forces push and pull, as I strive to journey towards my  wholeness in love and light with harmony and grace. This life task remains for me one best  approached with fearlessness and faith. Tethered by Vrinda Aguilera I am tethered By a rope to the ground Bound To the earth stuck tight Freedom denied Hands tied It's not right! Fi...

THE POETRY BUG by Vrinda Aguilera

Have you heard that there is a virus going around?  It's characterized by a general state of distracted listlessness, feverish preoccupation with reading and/or writing and, worst of all, it's highly addictive. It's serious, folks, and there are no inoculations to protect you from it. It's called the 'poetry bug' and once you are bitten, it's the beginning of the end. So, you may want to be on guard and watch out for those meditative moments in nature or any other conditions that may bring about uncontainable urges of creative expression. The  Poetry Bug b y Vrinda Aguilera Once you are bitten by the poetry bug You will never be the same Gone are the quiet moments of solitude and mental serenity If they ever did exist Replaced, instead, by a viral swarms of disembodied words Thoughts, prose, phrases Lyrical pods of winged word birds  Swoop, flock and dive in the corner-less skies of your mind  Their buzzing, humming, and ...

THE GREAT LESSON OF THE MOON GODDESS by Vrinda Aguilera

The cycle of our moon's phases serve to teach us an important lesson  in the realm of the heart… The lesson is that of the fullness and beauty of giving and receiving. She moves through her lunar flow with the greatest of ease and regularity; seamlessly and gently undergoing her daily metamorphosis with wordless grace. In doing so she imparts her secret lesson: We cannot keep enfolded in our arms so many gifts without—having reached the fullness of gratitude—continue the dance and release. The time then arrives to open our arms and cast wide the net of blessings for others to receive. The Great Lesson of the Moon Goddess by Vrinda Aguilera Ebb and flow Ebb and flow Wax and wane Wax and wane The rhythms of the moon queen Each day she edges a slice more towards wholeness Wordlessly, without complaint she paints in her sphere With poise and grace she hovers Her eyes opening, seeing Her journey to fullness pushes and pulls A force that emanat...

THE MID-SUMMER STORM by Vrinda Aguilera

I love a good summer downpour!  A rainstorm is a veritable feast for the senses as the sounds, sights and smells are all viscerally experienced. I'm simultaneously awed and lulled in equal measures by both the sheer power and symphonic, mesmerizing rhythms of nature. The Mid-Summer Storm by Vrinda Aguilera A storm's blowing in . A storm's blowing in and the backyard forest pines gracefully sway, pirouette, and bow. A storm's blowing in and handfuls of rust and sepia hued pine needles are scatter strewn and freed to the four directions. A storm's blowing in and the wind sigh gusts wildly and free. It sings a song of a phantom freight train ever approaching yet never reaching the station. A storm's blowing in and the thunder gods gleefully thump their bass drums in a grand, stuttering cacophony. A storm's blowing in and the mischievous gale tries to sneak in from errant cracks in the window frames and door jambs. Seemingl...

LOVE NOTE ON MOTHER NATURE by Vrinda Aguilera

In ancient Vedic texts our Earth planet is personified as a goddess whose name is Bhumi Devi… She is seen as one of the many types of mothers as she protects, provides and cares for us.  We, ourselves, are but transient houseguests who have been graciously given a home and are the recipients of our generous earth mother's bounty. May we all live with careful consideration, respect and compassion for each other and all living beings.  May we embody true humility, grace, and service by treading gently as we inhabit Bhumi Devi's surface. Slow down and feel her warm embrace... Love Note on Mother Nature by Vrinda Aguilera At my best of times, at my worst of times I have always turned to and received the comfort and reassurance of Mother Nature. She has always been there for me. She enfolds me in her warm embrace. I trust her and she loves me. She soothes my upsets with her soft, melodic sounds as only she can do. She strokes me wit...

FAITH by Vrinda Aguilera

Life itself is an act of great faith… We only need to take but a small step back to see the vulnerability and fragility of all living things- from the tiny field mouse to the proud human and everything in between- we are all dependent and nourished by the gifts offered to us, overflowing from the unseen hands of our creator. Faith Faith is a tiny, grey field mouse Velvety pink nose sniffing, whiskers twitching Foraging in a vast, flaxen field of wheat Under a shaded, sheet metal sky Faith is a weary farmer Ploughing the fertile land Bedding his seeds in the rich soil With scarred, work roughened hands Faith is a downy sparrow chick Nestled in her forked branch treetop nest Neck outstretched, blind eyes shut tight Beak open wide in expectant anticipation Faith is the golden sun descending Leaving feathery streaks of pastel colors Trailing artfully across the sky Tipping the scales that send the moon on the rise Faith is a tender b...
