NIGHT SKY by Evelyn Bales

Night Sky By  Evelyn Bales   We are seekers, we who watch the night sky  to see Mars move ever closer, Jupiter and Venus with the crescent moon in waning summer’s night.   Harvest Moon draws us from our beds to stalk the yard like restless souls obeying primordial command to look and wonder in awe of her tug and pull.   In December we lie awake waiting for the full moon to slide below the horizon, for our world to become dark enough, for the dots and dashes of a Geminids shower to call us to the window.     Always searching for darker places to dim the man-made light, we take telescopes to cemeteries, to empty football stadiums, to better view the Milky Way.   Climb rooftops, draw anchor, follow ancient charts to sail boldly through blackness, seeking a different light to assuage the heart’s deep hunger.   (This poem first appeared in “In Spirit”, New Cumberland, Pennsylvania, Fall 2007)       Evelyn Bales is a poe...

TODAY, IS SIMPLY, ENOUGH by Maureen Lancaster

Today, is simply, enough… by Maureen Lancaster  in times past  it couldn’t  fly fast enough; such was the  impetuousness of youth in times present  it won’t stay long enough;  such is the wisdom of  hard-earned truth the future, so unknown, never promised,  so I’ve been shown the urgent yearning for that yet to find superseded by the poignancy of the true passage of time a naive concept forever replaced as each moment is now savoured in sweet embrace angst oft felt of time’s dominion my soul may now safely rebuff, for there is peace in the knowing  that today, is simply, enough… Maureen Lancaster: Maureen is a spiritual woman who shares her life journey through her writings in hopes that her words will resonate with others who may struggle from time to time on their journey; for coming to the understanding that we are not alone was one of her most valuable lessons. She started writing as an outlet for healing and finding wholenes...

SPACE by Sandy Rochelle

Space   A door opens in the cloud and I enter. The ascension begins. I am wrapped like a mummy awaiting the next world. My memories intact. My guide prepares me. Wisdom has guided me here. SHIFTING by Elizabeth P. Glixman

Shifting By Elizabeth P. Glixman Hold my hope in your hands. It is too cold to touch, too stale to breathe. It does not exist except in crumbs of bread that line the plastic wonder bag and coat the trash can's empty floor. Shape shifts my eyes to shame. It falls between the pulses of my fingertips: a bird on the road whose spirit has long fled. There is not a whimper in this wind. Saturation is gone. Hope is slight movements of air. Hold my hope in your hands. Grapes in vineyards bloom and roses in the garden weep. I cannot carry emptiness around, today. It makes my muscles weak. It blinds me with demands. It remains alive, taunting wishes. Hold my hope in your hands. Make it warm, make it rise; palpable to touch. Hold my hope in your hands. Let wishes blow in the wind. Elizabeth P. Glixman is a poet, writer and artist. She is the author of 4 poetry chapbooks , the most recent I AM THE FLAME Finishing Line Press. Her short story "Auras" is in the 2023 Coolest American ...

GENTLY UNTIL MORNING by Caroline Mellor

Gently Until Morning by Caroline Mellor A poem for my son, age 5 When you were little, you had these big, enormous dreams -   like you’d wake up in the night screaming and  I’d have to hold you until morning  just to calm you down. Sometimes  you’d lie in bed for an hour after waking,  not wanting to talk to anyone, still coming round  from wherever you’d just been;  your dreams were so real  they’d stay with you all day,  as though you half-lived in this other place  where I couldn’t find you,  where I couldn’t stop bad things from happening,  more than you did in the waking world.  The night terrors stopped -  but you always had one foot in the dream world,  you were always partly not mine.  One day, when you’re grown,  I know I won’t always be able to find you,  or to stop bad things from happening.  When that day comes,  I pray the world holds you gently until morning....

BEACON OF PEACE, BEARER OF LIGHT by Carolyn Chilton Casas

Beacon of Peace, Bearer of Light by Carolyn Chilton Casas              ~ for lightworkers the world over Thank you for being the keeper of decency and a way pointer for us all.           I bow to the everyday kindness you humbly extend  to your fellowkind.            I feel your prayers for a bewildered world zipping through the air from all ends of the earth.                I honor the unseen work  you do for humanity  behind closed doors, bringing  wisdom to soothe confusion.                Together we unite to serve one another, and in our purpose to create a more loving place for our children  and for those yet to come.   We hold hands in a circle  across land masses and ocean...

YOU ARE ENOUGH by Kalindi Dinoffer

You Are Enough By Kalindi Dinoffer   You know those days where it just feels  like everything's going wrong sideways and backwards and maybe the day is fine but you're wrong sideways and backwards like maybe you're  not enough...   Here's the thing: Even on those days You are enough Yes you just you just me just we   You don't have to do anything to prove your worth  you are always enough in the eyes of God hugging you from within   You are enough I am enough We are enough   You are loved just as you are dark crevices and all   You are enough  and you are loved even though you're not perfect  So don't run away  don't hide   Get comfy in your own skin it's a gift lean into vulnerability  lean into fear and shame lean into dark thoughts embrace them like long lost lovers   It doesn't work to hide the parts of you you'd rather not reckon with they'll be the elephant  in the room  growing bigger and ...
