I
have had many teachers over my life, people who have made a difference, shown
me how to open my heart and mind in different ways...
I wrote this in December last year. I remember my teacher inspired
this. She says she always finds feathers. Hence, I planted one here for her.
Grace
is the ultimate teacher for if we open to grace she always gives and shares and
lights the way.
Writing
is my way of invoking grace, my way of knocking on the doors I cannot open
without the beckoning of the Muse.
My
Muse is not a person or place or thing. My Muse is Poetry; it is the process,
for therein I reach in to see what I might find. Reaching in gives me what I
need to reach out, to have something to share, to offer what grace gives me as
I continue to learn.
Grace
I read
moments as if
Meaning
a combination
To
unlock the giving,
And
the giving is grace
Unwrapping
my heart so tears
Fall
with sadness
And joy
that all I know is
A
sheathe of being with words
That
do what I cannot; paint
What
I dare not see.
An
eagle’s feather
Lands
at your feet.
Wings
dance without bodies.
Music
flies and flight
Happens
after the body stops.
Need
stamps its feet.
Fear
locks the doors.
Anger
boils and burns.
Yet
when I move past that
I
find in space what nature
Teaches:
beginnings and endings
As
forms, points
To
start at or leave from.
In
this calm
A snowflake
From
God’s mouth enters wind
And
cold gives reason for warmth,
As
time never knows self
In the
way we think we do.

Edith Lazenby: “I love to write. I began writing poetry in elementary school. Sometimes I write poetry daily, other times not. I adore Mary Oliver, her way of embracing the light while acknowledging the darkness. I teach yoga full time and find the practice has grounded me deeper in my body and heart and helped me move closer to what I call spirit. I also now edit for Elephant Journal and write for them as well. I live with my husband, who is my best friend, and 4 kitties. Life holds challenges yet with time I feel better able to live in the moment, moment by moment. All great teachers teach presence. I find each day is a lesson in being. The process of writing holds me and I find the craft teaches me something new each time. You may visit my blog here.
